As ___ and ___ come together this day to join as Husband and Wife they would like us to reflect for a moment on the timeless symbols and old traditions of Christmas. The meaning that the now-a-days Christmas seems to have sometimes forgotten. Not only to remind us, but also in such a way to as to teach the children of today the values and treasured traditions of what Christmas really means.
The story begins in this way. It is late one Christmas Eve and the whole house is sound to sleep all snug in their beds with visions of sugar plums in their heads. A sound awoke a little boy and his little sister. They heard something rustling around from down stairs. They sprang from their beds and quietly hurry down the stairs to see what the noise was all about. Their eyes grew wide with astonishment as they spied Santa dusting the chimney soot from his bright red suit and large red bag. Santa saw the children huddling at the top of the stairs from the corner of his eye. He turned to the children and with a big smile, he motioned them to come down the stairs with a wave and a wink of his eye.
Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a beautiful Fir Tree and placed it before the mantle. Then Santa said, “Children the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven."
He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant star. " Children, the STAR is the sign of heavenly promises of long ago.
God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of the fulfillment of His promise."
